This has been an interesting exercise; many places offer variations on the basic Giclee and C-Type printing but providing a true comparison between them is not easy. I tries to get prices for a single 12″ x 10″ print as the best comparison between printers.
Genesis Imaging (https://genesisimaging.co.uk/) quote between £28.00 and £32.00 for C-Type printing (depending on paper), and £30 for Giclée. Their service offers help with setting up the prints as well as test strips before final production.
Metro Imaging (https://metroimaging.co.uk/) quote between £6.90 and £34.70 for C-Type, and between £9.10 and £44.10 for Giclée. In both cases the lower quote is for the simplest self-service option, and the upper for the most comprehensive custom support.
Peak Imaging (https://www.peak-imaging.com/) quote between £3.68 and £5.52 for C-Type, and between £6.20 and £7.30 for Giclée – both ranges are dependent on the paper choice. There is some custom support available but does not as comprehensive as Genesis or Metro.
Simlab (https://www.simlab.co.uk) quotes £0.55 for C-Type and between £5.15 and £7.30 for Giclée. Their Giclée range covers a number of different paper types. This is purely self-service with no custom support.
This image is one I have prepared as required by Simlab; JPEG at 300 dpi with sRGB colour space. Genesis would prefer LZW compressed TIFF with Adobe RGB colour, and Metro uncompressed TIFF with 8 bit RGB. Peak seem happy with either TIFF or JPEG with sRGB colour.
